Members receive special recognition for achievements and contributions.Do you know a Realtor® (or an Affiliate Member for Affiliate of the Year) who should receive special recognition for achievements and contributions? Someone who stands out in performance, professionalism, dedication, and service to the Fredericksburg Area Association of Realtors® (FAAR), their company, clients, customers, and the community. This nominee may be someone in your own office or an associate you know from another company. Realtors® (or Affiliates for Affiliate of the Year) will be honored in the following categories:

Professional Honor Role
This award was presented for the first time in 2008 recognizing the achievements of Realtor® recipients. The Honor “Role” award spotlights members who have made contributions to the real estate industry, FAAR, and the community. Points are assigned to categories – Association Activities, Networking Events, Educational Activities, VAR & NAR Designations and Councils, Service/Civic Activity and real estate Production.
Realtor® of the Year
Criteria for this award include: Realtor® spirit; activity in civic affairs and in FAAR, significant business accomplishments; exceptional leadership and professional qualities. This category is open to Brokers and Sales Associates who are active Realtor® members of FAAR.
Rookie of the Year
Criteria for this award include: Realtor® spirit; activity in civic affairs and in FAAR, significant business accomplishments; exceptional leadership and professional qualities. This category is open to Brokers and Sales Associates who are active Realtor® members of FAAR.
Manager of the Year
Criteria for this award include: commitment to personal and associate education, Realtor® achievements & contributions, business and civic accomplishments, innovative, creative and original management. This category is open to managers who are active Realtor® members of FAAR.
REALTORS® Choice
This award is voted on by FAAR members. Members are encouraged to nominate a FAAR Realtor® who they have particularly enjoyed working with. The award is intended to promote enthusiasm throughout the association membership and to recognize a Realtor® who is a positive reflection of the real estate profession. Company block voting is discouraged.
Melanie Thompson Award
This award is designed to recognize leadership by a young Realtor® or an affiliate professional that is making a difference as a member or an affiliate of the Fredericksburg Area Association of Realtor® and in their community. Young is defined as being new (under 7 years) in the real estate profession or affiliate profession, and/or being under the age of 45, and/or a person who is advancing and promoting the education and involvement of the young professional (as defined above).
Educator of the Year Award
The FAAR Academy Educator of the year is presented to the FAAR Academy educator who has made the most significant contributions to and exemplified leadership and service in real estate education at the local level.
Presented at the Installation of New Leadership
Annually in December

The Icon Award
The honor is awarded to a REALTOR® who has made a significant mark on the profession of real estate in the locality where he or she works. The Nominee’s name is recognizable to the community at large and is synonymous with exemplary ethical behavior and knowledgeable and compassionate service to clients and customers. The individual is highly respected by the REALTOR® community. The Nominee is generous with his or her time supporting community organizations/projects/programs. Several were awarded in 2018, the inaugural year, after that, just one a year, if appropriate. A nominee may be active or retired.
Spirit Award
The Spirit Award recipient motivates others, through enthusiasm and participation, to attend events. The recipient may serve on a committee or just answers the call for help. The recipient is reliable and shows up! An eligible recipient can also be a more reserved person who quietly takes on tasks- transporting props to events, participating in the set-up, tear down and clean up without fanfare.

Raising the Bar Award
Criteria for this award include: General interest in subject of Realtor® professional standards; availability and willingness to counsel and advise individual Realtors®, brokers, and sales associates on real estate problems; presentations on ethics before FAAR and other Associations; service on Grievance and/or Professional Standards Committee; teaching of courses in Realtor® character and integrity, professional real estate designations. The services of the nominee should have exposure to a large number of members/Realtor® community. This category is open only to brokers and sales associates who are active Realtor® members of FAAR.
Affiliate of the Year
Criteria for this award include: Must be an Affiliate member of FAAR, provided exceptional service to FAAR, its members and the general public, exhibited unusual dedication to the real estate profession, shown a high degree of Association participation, as well as activity in civic affairs. Exhibits character and integrity.
Good Neighbor Award
Here is an opportunity to nominate a deserving person (or persons) for recognition by the Fredericksburg Area Association of Realtors®. Note: Some of the recognitions may not be given every year. This award is intended to recognize individual contributions to the local community and do not have to be real estate related. Nominees should have made a significant contribution of time or other resources, and will be awarded based on a level of personal contributions, broadness of impact, and the project’s suitability as a role model for other association members.
Hall of Fame
Criteria for this award include: length of membership in FAAR; elective offices held and committees on which served; areas in which nominee served the real estate industry through involvement with commissions, institutes, societies and councils; community service, individual firm/association development — extent of nominee’s leadership role in the establishment and/or growth of a real estate entity. Nominations may come from Board of Directors or Awards Committee.
